The 2018 Monteverro is faring better than the winery’s 2018 Tinata label, and despite the challenging vintage, the wine is compact, expressive, and bears an elegance factor that is hard to deny. The tannins are a bit angular, chalky, and mocha-tinged, but there’s a zesty freshness in its flamed grapefruit peel, bay leaf, and damson plum notes that linger with marionberry and pomegranate freshness.
