Duft und Aromatik wie bereits in der Jugend, nur deutlich offener. Komplexes Bouquet mit eher blauen und dunklen Beeren, feiner Mineralik mit Noten von Graphit und Eisen. Im Mund enorm
druckvoll und dennoch auch sehr geschmeidig und linear. Erinnert mit seiner Rasse und Frische an die an die jüngeren Figeac-Jahrgänge. Ein großer Maremma Grand Cru, der erst langsam ins Trinkfenster kommt und noch lange sein Potenzial ausschöpfen wird.

Monteverro 2016, Decanter
Sampled during a vertical tasting of 2008-2021 vintages in August 2024. Dark ruby colour. It is an incredibly robust and textural wine with tons of grip and freshness brought on by stone fruit notes of peach pit, plums, and a freshness of white pepper and mocha. Densley-packed fine-grained tannins imbue this wine with serious weight, while that stone fruit and acid grip help keep everything light, fresh, and almost airy. The finish is exceedingly long, with saline minerals and a real high-toned spicy jalapeño note.
Tinata 2016, Decanter
The 2016 Tinata shows a beautiful, luminous, deep ruby colour in the glass. I sample it in a vertical tasting in August 2024, beginning with 2008 - 2021, and this was a real show - stopper. It has prfound textural elegance and is a complete wine with polish and undeniable deliciousness. The bouquet is filled with elderberry and blue fruits aromatics, layered with rich toffee, espresso bean notes, and herbal character. Full - bodied with robust, fine grained tannins and ample dark berry and currant fruits that are nuanced by fragrant cigar box, white pepper and charcuterie notes.

The 2016 Terra di Monteverro (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) is a great choice if you love blended reds from sunny Tuscany. This pretty expression is dark, exuberant, rich and fruit-forward. However, the wine is also characterized by that sense of focus and linearity that is the very definition of the classic 2016 vintage. Blackberry and black currant segue to spice, tar and smoked cedar.
A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, the Monteverro 2016 Terra di Monteverro is inky dark in appearance with thick and impenetrable layers of black fruit and dried blackberry. I tasted this sample from a special set of 100-milliliter test tubes. It is drinking beautifully right now, and it's a pleasure to return to this classic vintage. This full-bodied Bordeaux blend offers thick concentration that wraps heavily over the palate with concentrated density and long flavors of spice, leather, tobacco and dried fruit.

Here’s a happy surprise from the Tuscan Coast and definitely one of the most memorable samples I tasted from this region this year. The 2016 Tinata is a beautifully balanced blend of Syrah and Grenache that hits all its proverbial nails on the head. I admire the fullness and generosity of the wine (that is never heavy), its depth and complexity (that is never banal) and its power (that is not overblown). You get the savory fullness of Syrah with black fruit, tobacco, smoke and spice and some of the vertical freshness of the Grenache. The tannins are softly textured to the point of being creamy. It gives me great joy to enthusiastically recommend this exciting wine from Monteverro.

Monteverro has released an impressive set of new wines this year starting with their 2016 Chardonnay. I tasted bottle number 3,894 of 9,163 made. From the first sip, the wine boasts balance and elegance, and there is a bright end note that will appeal to both fans and foes of oak-aged Chardonnay. Creamy flavors of orchard fruit, nectarine, honey and almond wrap smoothly over the palate. A bright hint of acidity adds momentum and energy. This wine marries the best of Chardonnay with the best of sunny southern Tuscany.

An almost perfect wine with intense purple colour and violet hue.Although initially quite closed the wine is opening up slowly expressing an exciting and complex aroma reminiscent of incense, white pepper, raw meat, fresh blood, sage and basil as well as beetroots, roasted red peppers, sweet blackberries, ripe cherries, black olives and rum marinated fruits. On the palet impressing and multi-layered with powerful characther, yet elegant and fresh. Ripe and expressive tannins, excellent aromatic depth and leght, multi-layered, repeating the flavour of the nose. A great wine with a touch of "Bordeaux" but distinct "italianità" showing a promising potential for further evolution.
