Tinata 2017, Wine Advocate by Robert Parker

This wine represents a terrific marriage between Rhône varieties and sunny coastal Tuscany. From a very hot and dry vintage, the Monteverro 2017 Tinata (Syrah and Grenache with 7,829 bottles released) shows more balance next to the 2018 vintage, which is characterized by a more monotone layer of sweet cherry cola. This vintage, on the other hand, has more fruit depth, and although the flavors are on the ripe side with blackberry preserves, you get more nuance. The mouthfeel is creamy, rich and long. I

Monteverro 2017, Wine Advocate by Robert Parker

This is the headline wine from Monteverro. The 2017 Monteverro is Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot with a more important oak regime (in terms of time and types of barrel) compared to the more accessible Terra di Monteverro. This wine is fully concentrated and very rich. It’s almost too much of a good thing with dark fruit layers, spice and savory tobacco. It’s definitely bold and is a lot to take in.

Tinata 2017, James Suckling

Cracked black pepper, black fruit, ripe strawberries and hints of flowers, following through to a full body with round, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. Fruity-forward red, yet vivid acidity keeps the energy levels up.

Terra di Monteverro 2017, James Suckling

Extremely floral and aromatic with blackberry, violet and sandalwood character. Full-bodied, tight and focused with rich, chewy tannins, yet pointed and focused. Needs time to open and come together.

Monteverro 2017, James Suckling

A dense, rich red with loads of blackberries, black licorice, sage and blueberries. Some slate, too. It’s full-bodied with rich yet polished and integrated tannins. Flavorful finish. Dried meat and bacon with some smokiness at the end.

Chardonnay 2017, James Suckling

A solid chardonnay with cooked apples, honey and cookies, as well as light vanilla and toffee undertones. Honeysuckle, to. It’s medium-to full-bodied with lovely fruit and a fresh, fruity finish. Tight and focused. Try after 2021.
