Blue fruit and violet aromatics frame the bouquet of 2009, which is like night and day compared to the 2008 vintage, which I tasted side by side in August 2024. There’s a beautiful layered quality to the 2009, more profiund and dense, with baskets of currant fruits, spiced plums, cranverrym tobacco, black truffle, and high toned sagebrush and wild herbs. Satiny tannins build on the everlasting finish with dark chicholate, saline granitic minerals and sandalwood.
